Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what CostBeaver ("we", "us") collects when you use costbeaver.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. CostBeaver publishes free home-project cost estimates and, when you ask, connects you with local contractors.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you request quotes, we collect the details you enter — typically your name, email, phone number, ZIP code or metro, and project details (e.g. system type, home size). Our cost calculators themselves work without any contact information.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect standard log and device data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page) and usage analytics through cookies and similar technologies. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

How we use your information

To generate your cost estimate and operate the Site.
To connect you with licensed local contractors when you submit a quote request, and to let those contractors contact you about your project.
To measure and improve the Site (analytics, troubleshooting, security).
To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

How we share your information

We are a lead-referral service, so sharing the contact details you submit is the core of what you ask us to do:

Partner contractors and lead networks. When you submit a quote request, we share the information you provide with a limited number of licensed contractors (or the contractor networks that route to them) so they can contact you about your project. The form tells you the maximum number of contractors at the point of submission.
Service providers. Vendors that host the Site and provide analytics and email delivery, including Google Analytics (Google LLC), operate on our behalf under contract.
Legal and safety. When required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer.

We do not sell your personal information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

Calls, texts and marketing consent

If you check the consent box and submit the quote form, you give prior express written consent to be contacted by up to four partner contractors (and their agents) at the phone number and email you provide — including by autodialer, prerecorded message, and SMS — about your project. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of texts by replying STOP, and you can ask any caller to stop contacting you.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used. On your first visit a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies; declining sets Google Analytics to a consent-denied state on your device. You can also block cookies in your browser, use Google's opt-out add-on, and we honor the Global Privacy Control / Do-Not-Sell signal where it applies.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and opt out of future sharing, by emailing [email protected]. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, including to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; we do not sell your information, and you can exercise these rights at the same address.

Data retention and security

We keep quote-request information only as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, though no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.

Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
